Goodreads Synopsis

Keeping her secret may save her family.

But telling it may save her life.

Arabella Lane, senior executive at a children’s publisher, is found dead in the Thames on a frosty winter’s morning after the office Christmas party. No one is sure whether she jumped or was pushed. The one person who may know the truth is the newest employee at Parker & Lane – the office temp, Eleanor.

Eleanor has travelled to London to escape the repercussions of her traumatic childhood in outback Australia, but now tragedy seems to follow her wherever she goes. To her horror, she has no memory of the crucial hours leading up to Arabella’s death – memory that will either incriminate or absolve her.

As Eleanor desperately tries to remember her missing hours and uncover the events of that fateful night, her own extended family is dragged further into the dark, terrifying terrain of blame, suspicion and guilt.

Caught in a crossfire of accusations, Eleanor fears she can’t even trust herself, let alone the people around her. And soon, she’ll find herself in a race against time to find out just what happened that night – and discover just how deadly some secrets can be.

Review

This was such an addictive and thrilling book that I absolutely devoured. The Hidden Hours was so well written and I grew so eager to find out what happened on that night and if Eleanor would gain her memories back.

Another thing I loved about this book was although the book was told from Eleanor's perspective, we see snippets of other characters at the beginning of some of the chapters which really added to the story and gave us more of an insight. I also liked that we alternated between the past and the present, finding out what happened to Eleanor in her childhood in Australia.

I grew to like Eleanor's character and loved how relatable and realistic she was as a character. She made stupid decisions and as we learnt more of her past you began to understand why she was lonely and desperate for a new start. I was very intrigued to see how and if her memories came back to her, in turn learning whether she was innocent or guilty.

My only issue with the book was that I had guessed quite early on what had been going on with Arabella but honestly, that didn't stop me from vigorously consuming this book and it's entire premise.

Overall, this was a fantastic psychological thriller that has you wanting more. You become so invested in this story that it's all you can think about until you find out what truly happened and why. If you're a fan of this genre then this is one you HAVE to pick up! It's so god damn good!
