Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard

Thank you so much to Orion for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion. Ad-gifted

Goodreads Synopsis

A strange darkness grows in Allward.

Even Corayne an-Amarat can feel it, tucked away in her small town at the edge of the sea.

She soon discovers the truth: She is the last of an ancient lineage—and the last hope to save the world from destruction. But she won’t be alone. Even as darkness falls, she is joined by a band of unlikely companions:

A squire, forced to choose between home and honor.

An immortal, avenging a broken promise.

An assassin, exiled and bloodthirsty.

An ancient sorceress, whose riddles hide an eerie foresight.

A forger with a secret past.

A bounty hunter with a score to settle.

Together they stand against a vicious opponent, invincible and determined to burn all kingdoms to ash, and an army unlike anything the realm has ever witnessed.

Review

This was my first Victoria Aveyard book and I can easily say that this will not be the last! I loved everything about this book, from the writing style, the plot and the characters! I'm a sucker for a ragtag group of people who need to come together in order to save the world and this one ticked all the boxes for me.

This book is so rich in detail that it's so easy to imagine the world that Aveyard has created. Her writing is beautiful and the story just flew smoothly! I was scared that because this was such a big book (over 500 pages) that there would be parts that were unnecessary but that was not the case. I felt like we needed it all!

Corayne was such an amazing character who is thrown into this situation with no training and the fact that she struggles so much makes this story so much more realistic and relatable. I loved watching her grow as a character and I'm so excited to watch as she continues to develop in this series.

I honestly loved the group as a whole and their dynamic. No one blended into the background, they were all prominent characters who all brought something to the story and each came with their own backstory and personality. I also loved that this book was told in multiple POVs because it allowed us to learn more about these characters.

Honestly, I could talk about this book for ages. I haven't been able to stop thinking about this story and I'm gutted I have to wait for the next book in the series! I definitely recommend this to anyone who young adult fantasy and a group of mis-matched individuals!
