Goodreads synopsis
It's nearly Christmas, but Angel Green isn't celebrating - she's too busy studying for a scholarship exam. On top of that, she's organising her school's charity fundraising campaign to help a local hospice. Unfortunately, her fundraising partner is Caspar Johnson: handsome, creative and fun, but TOTALLY unreliable.
Thank goodness for her Secret Santa who keeps leaving her amazing presents, including an intriguing hand-made advent calendar! Angel is dying to find out who her secret admirer is . . .
As they spend time together planning festive events, Angel realises that Caspar has hidden depths - and a secret that he's hiding behind his easy-going facade. Her advent calendar encourages Angel to take risks and open her heart - but has she left it too late to tell Caspar how she really feels?
Review
This was such an adorable read. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be a bit too old for this book and was on the fence about requesting but I’m so glad I did! Even though it’s not Christmas yet, I found myself being sucked into the atmosphere and absolutely loving this!
Angel is such a strong character who is so academically focused that I was rooting on her to pass her scholarship exam. I thought that Casper was going to be a lot different after reading the synopsis but I’m happy I was completely wrong. I really liked his character and how adorable he is! I also really liked a lot of the side characters, especially Izzy! I do wish we would have gotten to know a bit more about Ola as I do feel like she was kind of pushed to the back quite a lot.
My only qualm with this book is that I guessed a lot of the main plot lines quite early on which made the suspense of Angel finding out who was her secret Santa incredibly anti-climatic.
Otherwise this was a super adorable, heart-warming contemporary and recommend this for anyone looking for a fast-read, cute wintery read this Christmas.
