Illumicrate - Worlds Collide March 2020

About Illumicrate and my journey as a subscriber...

Illumicrate are a monthly subscription box based in the UK. They are dedicated to bringing you the best new releases and each month you'll receive a carefully curated monthly box with a newly released book and around 4-6 bookish goodies.

I've only been subscribed to Illumicrate for a couple of months and also get their Illumicrate x Fable & Black Pin Club (where you receive a book themed enamel pin every month). However, in the space of that small time I am incredibly impressed by their customer service and how swift they are in getting out their subscriptions.

So, let's have a look at what was in March's box! Please be aware that from here there may be spoilers if you have not yet received your box!

Items included in this box

  • A candle inspired by Strange the Dreamer which was made by @Ameliakitchencandles

  • An Alice in Wonderland inspired keyring with artwork by @itsbabypears

  • A City of Brass foiled print with artwork by Slaymate

  • This months collectible coins are Jude and Carden from The Cruel Prince and are by @monolimeart

  • A mug inspired by Throne of Glass and was designed by @Rosiethorns88

  • Due to Covid-19 there was a delay in the final item which I will include a picture of when it arrives. This was a His Dark Materials necklace designed by @hannahhitchmanart - see bottom of post!

The book of the month is Havenfall by Sara Holland and it came with a beautiful author's note! The book is an exclusive hardback with sprayed edges and a ribbon bookmark and a signed bookplate.

Hidden deep in the mountains of Colorado lies the Inn at Havenfall, a sanctuary that connects ancient worlds -- each with their own magic -- together. For generations, the inn has protected all who seek refuge within its walls, and any who disrupt the peace can never return.

For Maddie Morrow, summers at the inn are more than a chance to experience this magic first-hand. Havenfall is an escape from reality, where her mother sits on death row accused of murdering Maddie's brother. It's where Maddie fell in love with handsome Fiorden soldier Brekken. And it's where one day she hopes to inherit the role of Innkeeper from her beloved uncle.

But this summer, the impossible happens--a dead body is found, shattering everything the inn stands for. With Brekken missing, her uncle gravely injured, and a dangerous creature on the loose, Maddie suddenly finds herself responsible for the safety of everyone in Havenfall. She'll do anything to uncover the truth, even if it means working together with an alluring new staffer Taya, who seems to know more than she's letting on. As dark secrets are revealed about the inn itself, one thing becomes clear to Maddie--no one can be trusted, and no one is safe...

My thoughts on this month's box...

I really loved this box! The mug is absolutely stunning along with the Alice in Wonderland keyring. I'm also super excited to read Havenfall, it's been on my anticipated reads list and to have an exclusive hardback makes me even more eager! I'm intrigued about the necklace and cannot wait for it to come in!
