About FairyLoot and my journey as a subscriber…
FairyLoot is a monthly subscription box based in the UK run by a small yet passionate team. The boxes focus solely on fantasy novels with a different theme each month. The boxes includes 5-6 carefully selected goodies along with a Young Adult or Young Adult crossover book.
I have been subscribed to FairyLoot since 2017 and my first ever box was their one year anniversary box. I remember opening that box and falling in love with it immediately. Over the years I’ve subscribed to other boxes provided by different companies and none have compared to the service that FairyLoot provides.
The customer service that is provided by them is above and beyond anything I’ve ever experienced and that is just the tip of what FairyLoot provides. Each month you can read along the book of the month with one of the members of the team and can discuss the chapters on their community page with other subscribers. It honestly makes you feel like part of a family and I love it.
The theme for August was Let The Games Begin So let's have a look at what was inside!
Please be aware that from here there may be spoilers if you have not yet received your box!
Items included in this month's box
A Golden Egg bath bomb which was inspired by Harry Pootter and was handmade by @littleheartgifts (please note that this is the last Harry Potter item Illumicrate is including in their boxes)
An Aurora Rising pin which is inspired by Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. This was designed by @ironandinkdesigns
A Scythe magnet inspired by the series by Neal Schusterman and was designed by @taratjah
A Mia and Mr Kindly metal bookmark inspired by Nevernight by Jay Kristoff and designed by @taratjah
A Prince Draucla hardcover notebook which is inspired by Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. The cover was designed by @noverantale and the artwork inside is by @taratjah
A Laia and Elias Book Sleeve inspired by An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir and was designed by @monolimeart
This month's tarot cards were inspired by Nevernight and were designed by Katherine Britt (these are not pictured because sadly my box came incredibly damaged and the tarot cards and spoiler card were sadly the victim. FairyLoot are sending me replacements).
The book of the month is Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar and has shimmery sprayed edges, artwork on the reverse dust jacket by @bxromance and is signed by the author Synopsis If the night sky holds many secrets, it holds Sheetal Mistry's secret the closest. A secret that explains why her hair is the silver of starlight, or why some nights the stars call Sheetal by name. Stars like her mother, who returned to her place in the constellation Pushya years ago. Since that day, Sheetal has been forced to hide. But as her seventeenth birthday draws near, the pull from the sky is growing stronger. So strong that Sheetal loses control, and a flare of starfire burns her human father—an injury only a full star's blood can heal. Sheetal has no choice but to answer the starsong and ascend to the sky. But her celestial family has summoned her for a reason: to act as their human champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of heavens. Desperate to save her father, Sheetal agrees. But nothing could have prepared Sheetal to face the stars' dark history—or the forces that are working to shut the gate between the realms for good.
My thoughts on this month’s box…
This box was absolutely stunning and I am in love with so many items in it! Firstly the metal bookmark is so gorgeous and I cannot wait to display it with my Nevernight series!
The notebook is honestly one of my favourite items and I love the artwork inside, it's acutally one of my favourite pieces by @taratjah. Expect to see this in future pictures over on my bookstagram! The artwork on the booksleeve is so beautifully done and I am in love with @monolimeart's art.
